This Month's Featured Ohio Bow Hunting Club

The land has a combination of mature hardwoods, a regenerated hardwood clear cut approximately 15 years old,  planted pines,  a 4 year old clear cut and a 5 year old clear cut. The planted pines and younger clear cuts afford great bedding areas, and provide lots of browse. The planted pines are approximately 10'. The  younger clear cuts which are being allowed to regenerate naturally with lots of honeysuckle, briars, and other natural browse affords lots of summer food sources and lots of bedding areas. The property has an abundance of mature acorn trees, primarily white oaks, with some post oaks and red oaks.  It also has a few persimmon trees, and a good number of honey locust trees in the creek bottoms.

This property has received very little hunting pressure the last few years.  The deer herd is in excellent shape with a great buck to doe ratio.  All members except the local caretaker live at least 300 miles away from the property which means that it gets very little hunting pressure.

Some of the property can be accessed from a paved highway with walk in access, however major portions are remote enough to require an ATV.

None of these bucks were killed during the 2009 season and are still roaming around the property!

Spring Turkey Season Is Either Shotgun, Muzzleloader, or Bow.

Turkey Season Dues Are Included In The Deer Hunting Dues, However Separate Turkey Season Dues Are Available at Only $400.00 per member.

This Club Has A Great Population Of Turkeys.

The Property Is Located Near The Town Of Jackson, Ohio and the entire area is renowned for big deer.

2009 Season Update:

All Open Club Positions Were Filled prior to the beginning of the 2009 season.  We are trying to negotiate for additional acres for the 2010 season.  If we are able to add additional acres, we will be increasing our number of members.  Send an Email now to get on the waiting list.  When we add new members we will e-mail the entire list to determine who is still interested.

We experienced a total acorn failure this year which made the hunting difficult to say the least.  Owing to the fact that there were no acorns, the major food sources became the honeysuckle and green briar located in the clear cut areas.  Because the food sources were in the clear cuts, most of the rut activity occurred there making it difficult to harvest one of the mature whitetails that inhabit our property. 

Several members reported seeing big bucks, some over 150" but none were taken. This means that the number of truly large, mature bucks has increased on this property and the 2010 season should be outstanding.  As far as we can tell, there were no late freezes that would have damaged the acorn crop during the spring of 2010 so barring any drought conditions over the course of the summer, we should have a good acorn crop which will make the hunting much better than during the 2009 season.
